Josh Hartnett Shares Rare Glimpse Into Family Life After Return to Hollywood
Josh Hartnett gave a rare look into his "amazing" home life with wife Tamsin Egerton and their four kids, sharing that he prefers to be defined by his family rather than his Hollywood career.

he Black Mirror actor—who shares four kids with wife Tamsin Egerton—opened up about his life as a dad, revealing that it was incredibly challenging to balance parenting and playing a grieving father in season six of the Netflix sci-fi series.

"I'm not great at getting out of it, especially if it's hard to get into," Josh said of the difficult role in a Variety interview published June 10. "It takes about the same amount of kind of effort to come out because I can't just pick it up and put it down."

The 45-year-old continued, "At the same time, I've got amazing friends, I've got an amazing family, and I have kids and they don't care what I've been doing at work. They need things, so I can't really bring it out. It's not an option."

For Josh, he's come to realize that he'd rather have family shape his life rather than his Hollywood career, which he stepped away from for a brief period of time to focus on his mental health.

"I love my work and I want to put it out there and I want people to enjoy it," he shared. "But like me, personally, I don't feel the way that I did when I was younger, because I was undefined."

Reflecting on how he was "still trying to figure out" his identity at the height of his popularity during the early aughts, Josh noted, "Something of that magnitude that everybody knew about and sort of thought of me as the character had an effect on me that I kicked back against. It was always something that I had to contend with at that age, and I was still trying to figure out what I meant to myself and to people around me."

He added, "I don't think that could happen again at the age of 45—I hope I've got a little bit more there."

Indeed, a lot has changed since Josh graced the silver screen in 2001 blockbusters such as Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor. In addition to starting a family, he's also relocated to Tamsin's native England to avoid the persistently trailing paparazzi.

In fact, he and the Grimsby actress, 35, have kept their relationship so under the radar that they had been quietly married for four months before news of their union broke in March 2022. The longtime couple have also kept their kids out of the spotlight, opting not to publicly share their names.

"The thing I am most proud of is that I'm a father of three and I have a good relationship with my partner and a great family life," he told Mr. Porter in 2021, before welcoming his fourth child with Tamsin, "and I'm still able to do good work and, as I've got older, the characters have become more interesting."

Josh added, "I don't know what the possibilities of my life could have been had I chosen different routes, but I will say that in giving in to the allure of Hollywood entirely, I know that I would not have a happy life. I feel very strongly about that."

Josh isn't the only celeb who hit pause on their acting career. Keep reading for more stars who quit Hollywood.

Josh Hartnett remembers dealing with 'unhealthy' fan attention

Josh Hartnett has admitted that he struggled to deal with the pressures of fame.
Josh Hartnett received an "unhealthy" amount of fan attention during his younger years.

The 46-year-old actor achieved heartthrob status as a teenager, but Josh now admits that he found it to be an overwhelming experience.

He told the Observer newspaper: "People’s attention to me at the time was borderline unhealthy."

Asked to clarify what he meant, Josh replied: "Well, look, I don’t want to give this a lot of weight ... There were incidents. People showed up at my house. People that were stalking me."
Josh recalled one incident when "a guy showed up at one of my premieres with a gun, claiming to be my father. He ended up in prison."

Josh ultimately decided to step away from Hollywood, and focus his attention on independent projects instead.

He explained: "There were lots of things. It was a weird time. And I wasn’t going to be grist for the mill."

Meanwhile, Josh previously admitted that he hasn't had a "cohesive career".

The actor was one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood during his younger years, but Josh has subsequently opted to shun some big-budget film projects.

Speaking to The Independent, Josh - who previously starred in 'Pearl Harbor' and 'Black Hawk Down' - explained: "I have an artistic mind, and I want to follow things that are somehow just outside of my understanding.

"Does that necessarily make for a cohesive career in a movie star sense? No. But before the last few years I just had less of a chance to do it."

Josh loves making movies and TV shows - but he doesn't enjoy the pressures of fame.

He explained: "Coming up to the city and doing an interview is a rarity. Typically, I work on the films that I work on, and then I go home."

Josh Hartnett Stalkers Pushed Me Out of Hollywood ... Details Scary Incidents

https://forumupload.ru/uploads/0000/0e/cb/129/t951865.jpg

Josh Hartnett's diving into scary moments in his past ... revealing he left Hollywood because he was being stalked -- including by a man he says once arrived at his location with a gun.

The actor spoke with The Guardian via Zoom from his estate in Hampshire, England ... a sprawling countryside where he lives with his wife partly because living in L.A. started to feel too dangerous.

JH says it's not the only reason he left L.A. about 20 years ago ... but, it didn't help that people started showing up at his house.

Hartnett says these were straight-up stalking incidents ... adding that a man once "showed up at one of my premieres with a gun, claiming to be my father. He ended up in prison."

Basically, Hartnett worried he'd get crushed by fame ... and decided to change his life before Hollywood could end it.

Obviously Hartnett still makes movies ... including M. Night Shyamalan's "Trap" -- a psychological horror-thriller coming out this week where he plays a serial killer who has to escape a stadium-wide police operation, a perfect role for getting in the mind of his own stalkers.

Hartnett says his career trajectory's just fine with him FWIW ... adding he spends a ton of time with his kids he otherwise probably wouldn't have.

That said, it seems his career could've gone way differently ... but, H'wood itself made the man feel trapped.
