Fight or Flight is an upcoming action-thriller set to premiere on Sky Cinema in February 2025, featuring Josh Hartnett in the lead role. The film follows a mercenary who is tasked with tracking down a target on a commercial flight, only to find himself in a high-stakes situation where he must protect his target from multiple adversaries intent on killing them both
The movie also boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Charithra Chandran, Julian Kostov, Katee Sackhoff, and Marko Zaror.
“Fight or Flight” is directed by James Madigan and is set to be an intense action ride within the claustrophobic confines of an aeroplane, creating a pressure-cooker scenario that blends strategic mind games with close-quarters brutal combat.

Josh Hartnett's New Action Movie Earns the Rotten Tomatoes Score 'Trap' Deserved 
Josh Hartnett is back with a new banger after Trap, and critics love every bit of it. From director James Madigan, Fight or Flight has landed a laudable 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its U.K. debut last month; however, the audience score is unavailable at the time of this writing. Even so, the reviews from top critics so far put the movie in a good light, one of which is from Empire Magazine’s John Nugent, who states:
“A solid bit of high-concept B-movie fun, establishing Josh Hartnett as a credible action hero, and James Madigan as a genre director to watch.”
Fight or Flight premiered on Sky Cinema on Friday, February 28 but is set to arrive in the U.S. later in May. It follows Hartnett as a former Secret Service agent who’s been on the run for years and when he’s given the job of tracking down a mysterious figure known as The Ghost on a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco, he sees it as a chance to redeem himself. However, there’s one major problem; the plane is full of assassins who want to kill them both.
Producers of Fight or Flight include Tai Duncan, Basil Iwanyk, Chris Milburn, and Erica Lee, while Brooks McLaren and D. J. Cotrona wrote the script. Starring alongside Hartnett (who portrays Lucas Reyes) in the action-packed film are Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Katherine Brunt, Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) as Isha, Marko Zaror (John Wick Chapter 4) as Chayenne, Julian Kostov (Triumph) as Aaron Hunter, and Rebecka Johnston as Rebecca.
Critics Love ‘Fight or Flight’ More Than ‘Trap’!
Hartnett’s remarkable performance is applauded in some of the Fight or Flight reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, similar to Trap, which currently holds a 57% rating on the review aggregator website. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed pic was theatrically released in the U.S. by Warner Bros. Pictures on August 2, 2024, and grossed $82.7 million on a $30 million budget. It stars Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Night Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, and Alison Pill.
Unfortunately, Trap is not as critically successful as Fight or Flight as it received mixed reviews from critics and even their consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads:
“An arch thriller given some grounding by Josh Hartnett's committed performance, Shyamalan's Trap will ensnare those who appreciate its tongue-in-cheek style while the rest will be eager to wriggle out from it.”

Fight or Flight follows an exiled American agent by the name of Lucas Reyes (Josh Hartnett), who is recruited for a job that lands him aboard a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco, where, instead of sitting back and enjoying the in-flight entertainment, he must track down and identify a high-value asset known only as "The Ghost." However, the flight's manifest is riddled with armed hitmen assigned to kill them both, forcing the unlikely duo to join forces and fight for their lives at 37,000 feet in the air — by the sounds it, in a similar fashion to Gerard Butler and Mike Colter's unexpected team-up on the ground in 2023's white-knuckle actioner Plane.
Hartnett, who takes the lead role in Fight or Flight as bleach-blond mercenary Reyes, alongside Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone), JuJu Chan Szeto (Wu Assassins), and Marko Zaror (John Wick: Chapter 4), broke his 10-year social media silence to "promote" his forthcoming movie on Instagram, following months of championing by him and the director, who positioned the action outing as one that stands alongside classic throwback thrillers such as Passenger 57 and Executive Decision.

Fight or Flight is on the official release radar for May 9, but Collider's screening is taking place in New York City (at a venue that will be disclosed to those attending) on May 5, giving people the opportunity to watch the action-thriller days before its theatrical rollout.
