Josh Hartnett's New Action Movie Earns the Rotten Tomatoes Score 'Trap' Deserved    

Josh Hartnett is back with a new banger after Trap, and critics love every bit of it. From director James Madigan, Fight or Flight has landed a laudable 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its U.K. debut last month; however, the audience score is unavailable at the time of this writing. Even so, the reviews from top critics so far put the movie in a good light, one of which is from Empire Magazine’s John Nugent, who states:

    “A solid bit of high-concept B-movie fun, establishing Josh Hartnett as a credible action hero, and James Madigan as a genre director to watch.”

Fight or Flight premiered on Sky Cinema on Friday, February 28 but is set to arrive in the U.S. later in May. It follows Hartnett as a former Secret Service agent who’s been on the run for years and when he’s given the job of tracking down a mysterious figure known as The Ghost on a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco, he sees it as a chance to redeem himself. However, there’s one major problem; the plane is full of assassins who want to kill them both.

Producers of Fight or Flight include Tai Duncan, Basil Iwanyk, Chris Milburn, and Erica Lee, while Brooks McLaren and D. J. Cotrona wrote the script. Starring alongside Hartnett (who portrays Lucas Reyes) in the action-packed film are Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Katherine Brunt, Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) as Isha, Marko Zaror (John Wick Chapter 4) as Chayenne, Julian Kostov (Triumph) as Aaron Hunter, and Rebecka Johnston as Rebecca.
Critics Love ‘Fight or Flight’ More Than ‘Trap’!

Hartnett’s remarkable performance is applauded in some of the Fight or Flight reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, similar to Trap, which currently holds a 57% rating on the review aggregator website. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed pic was theatrically released in the U.S. by Warner Bros. Pictures on August 2, 2024, and grossed $82.7 million on a $30 million budget. It stars Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Night Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, and Alison Pill.

Unfortunately, Trap is not as critically successful as Fight or Flight as it received mixed reviews from critics and even their consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads:

    “An arch thriller given some grounding by Josh Hartnett's committed performance, Shyamalan's Trap will ensnare those who appreciate its tongue-in-cheek style while the rest will be eager to wriggle out from it.”
