Hartnett's work bad for romance

Josh Hartnett has blamed work pressures for ruining his romance with Scarlett Johansson.

The chiselled actor has spoken out about his year-long relationship with the Hollywood beauty and blames conflicting schedule for their split.

Josh told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "It was difficult spending so much time apart with our different commitments and both of us flying all over the world.

"At the end of the day, we're just ordinary people and it didn't work."

Scarlet, 22, and Josh, 28, started dating after meeting on the set of 'The Black Dahlia'. The couple reportedly split in November.

A source said: "Josh was gutted when he and Scarlett split - he thought she was really special and felt they might last the distance.

"But the pressure just got too much and when they saw each other they'd row as they were both so exhausted.

"It's taken him a while but he's getting over it now -he's just immersing himself in work."

Josh has recently been spotted with British actress Sienna Miller and 'Spider Man' star Kirsten Dunst.

JOSH ADMITS PAIN OVER SCARLETT BREAK UP

Actor Josh Hartnett has spoken to a UK newspaper about his painful break up with Scarlett Johansson.

In London to help launch his support for climate change initiatives by Global Cool, Hartnett spoke to the Mirror about the ending of his one year relationship with the beautiful actress.

"It was difficult spending so much time apart with all our different commitments and both of us flying all over the world," he said. "At the end of the day, we're just ordinary people and it didn't work."

A source for the newspaper however told the newspaper that the 28-year-old actor was "gutted" over the break up.

"Scarlett was very much a one-off. She was independent, feisty and outgoing – everything he wanted," the source said.

Hartnett will have plenty to keep his mind off the break up to Johansson. His latest initiative has seen him become the face of an awareness campaign over climate change, and will soon meet with prime minister Tony Blair over global warming issues.

"It's very strange and makes a change from acting," he said, saying that he hopes he "can make a difference".

Josh Hartnett has confirmed that he has separated from Scarlett Johansson.

The pair were believed to have split in November last year after a two year relationship but despite rumours linking Josh to Sienna Miller - and Scarlett to Justin Timberlake and more recently to Mark Wahlberg, neither party has previously commented on the end of their relationship.

Speaking in an interview with the Mirror, Josh described their break-up as “really painful”.
