Josh Hartnett and James Franco in stand-off

Frosty glances were exchanged last night at the Kings of Leon after party as Josh Hartnett (pictured above with Michael Stipe at the concert) and James Franco arrived at the star-studded bash.
The American actors were unfortunate enough to arrive for the exclusive party at fashionable Volstead at the same time, and it soon became clear that all was not well between Hartnett and Spider-Man star Franco.
Both are battling it out for the lead role in a film of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and were distinctly unimpressed to run into their rival at the bash. “Josh walked in first with Liv Tyler, and then James got out of his car and strolled in,” a bystander tells theBuzz. “They crossed paths by the cloakroom and barely acknowledged each other.”
