Hartnett and Hatcher expected for Malaysian GP charity gala

KUALA LUMPUR: Hollywood stars like Josh Hartnett and Teri Hatcher are expected to attend the SapuraKencana Petroleum Malaysian Grand Prix Charity Gala on March 21.

Hartnett gained fame in movies like Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down while Bond girl Hatcher is a Golden Globe Award-winning actress for her role as Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives.

Also attending will be Earth Wind & Fire's percussionist and vocalist Ralph Johnson.

The guests-of-honour for the event to be held at the Majestic Hotel here will be the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong.

The hotel will be decorated like the Eastern & Oriental Express, in line with the theme for this year.

Hosted and presented by Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the event will also feature a performance by 10-time Grammy Award winner Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

The gala also aims to raise funds for the National Heart Institute (IJN) Foundation.

“We will be auctioning off items from our sponsors and Formula One teams and drivers.

“Guests can choose to participate in the live bidding during the cocktail reception or during the silent auction,” SIC chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir said during a press conference yesterday.

He added that this was not the first time the event had been used as a platform for fundraising, citing the 2005 gala where funds were raised for the Force of Nature Foundation to aid tsunami victims.

Also present was foundation chairman Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong who said that last year, RM4mil was disbursed under the Patient Assistance Programme to cover the surgery costs of 182 patients. “There is no turning away a patient at IJN,” she said.

Title sponsor SapuraKencana Petroleum's president and group director Datuk Seri Shahril Shamsuddin, as well as co-sponsors Petronas Motorsports' general manager Anita Azrina Abd Aziz, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia's origination and client coverage managing director Saif Malik and CERES The House of Goenka's spokesperson Arianna Teoh were also present at the press conference.

Josh Hartnett to visit Malaysia

17 Mar – Who wouldn't get excited hearing the news that good looking stars like Josh Hartnett and actress Teri Hatcher are coming to Malaysia really soon?

Josh Hartnett from films like "Pearl Harbor" and Teri Hatcher from the successful television series "Desperate Housewives" are reported to be attending the SapuraKencana Petroleum Malaysian Grand Prix Charity Gala that will be held on 21 March 2013.

Located at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, the event will also be attended by the famous R&B singer songwriter Babyface, who will host and present the event.

Josh Hartnett was last seen in indie films like "Girl Walks Into A Bar" and "Stuck Between Stations", and Teri Hatcher was last seen in TV series "Jane By Design" as Kate Quimby.

Besides them, the other invited artists include the great Ralph Johnson, vocalist of Earth Wind & Fire with the hit song "September".

According to President and Director for the SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd, Datuk Mokhzaini Mahathir, goods supplied by the sponsor and the Formula One will be auctioned off for which the funds will be donated to the National Heart Institute (IJN).
