Josh Hartnett is going to be a dad!

The Penny Dreadful star is expecting a child with his girlfriend Tamsin Egerton, 26, Hartnett's rep Susan Patricola confirms to USA TODAY.

The couple met in 2011 while shooting the film The Lovers (but didn't start dating until "much later," according to Us Weekly).

Hartnett, 36, who spends six months of the year in Dublin shooting his Showtime horror series, made waves recently for revealing he once walked away from opportunities to play comic book heroes like Batman and Spider-Man.

"I've always felt that I could do whatever the hell I wanted. Maybe that's the product of growing up when I did and where I did," the Minnesota native told USA TODAY in May.

But Hartnett, who previously dated co-stars Julia Stiles, Kirsten Dunst and Scarlett Johansson, notoriously doesn't share his offscreen life, on social media or in the press.

"I purposefully didn't want people to know too much about my personal life because I think a lot of people give it away for free," he said. "I think if you spend too much time courting people's attention into your personal life, you lose your ownership of it. That's why I make sure my life is my own."

Page Six reports the actor recently sold his Minnesota home for $2.3 million. Recently, he did drop one crumb about becoming a parent when a question from Playboytouched on his financial priorities.

"I'd have to get a car that's safe for my kid," he said. "I don't have a kid yet, but that's the idea coming into my head these days."
