US based comedic drama ‘The Road Home’ is currently in pre-production, with Clare producer Paul Thompstone serving as one of the film’s producers.
‘The Road Home’ tells the story of two friends who travel to California’s elitist wine country to get drunk and pick up girls but things take a turn when the men end up stealing a rare bottle of wine, putting their lives in jeopardy.
Attached cast at the moment are Oscar nominated actors Lily Tomlin and Harvey Keitel, as well as Kelly Overton and Mario Lopez. Other rumoured leads include Josh Hartnett and Justin Long.
The film is being directed by Jared Drake and was written by Drake, Hunter G. Williams and Chris Hayes.
Speaking to IFTN about the film, Irish producer Paul Thompstone said, “I am really looking forward to working with director Jared Drake who's previous film 'Visioneers' starring Zach Galifianakis and Judy Greer won the Audience Award at the CineVagas International Film Festival. I am also really looking forward to working with the excellent cast involved including Oscar Nominee Lily Tomlin. I feel this will be a major stepping stone for my career and I am very thankful for the opportunity.”
Thompstone has also recently produced Irish film ‘Monged’, starring John Connors and Rex Ryan, which sold out a screening at last month’s Galway Film Fleadh and is currently on the international circuit. He had previously produced short films ‘Any Last Words’ and ‘Sorrow’s Trigger’.
He produces ‘The Road Home’ alongside Hunter G. Williams of Busted Knuckle Productions, as well as Justin Chien.
