Джош Хартнетт и Синобу Тэрадзима в главных ролях в американско-японской драме-комедии " О Люси !", съемки которой завершились на этой неделе.

Кахо Минами и Кодзи Якусё также играли роли в фильме, который снимался в Токио и Лос-Анджелесе.

Продюсеры фильма Хань Уэст, Юки Кито, Джессика Элбаум и другие.     

Художественный фильм основан на короткометражном фильме с таким же названием, японского режиссера Atsuko Hirayanagi, сценарий ее же. Фильм О, Люси! выиграл приз жюри на международном кинофестивале Сандэнс- 2015.

Одинокая женщина (Синобу Тэрадзима), работающая в одном из офисов Токио, страдает от того, что лучшие годы проходит в монотонных офисных буднях и одиночестве. Попав в класс для обучения английского языка, она получает светлый парик и новую индивидуальность с именем «Люси» от своего молодого и чуждого условностям учителя (Джош Хартнетт). «Люси», ее новая ипостась,  пробуждает в женщине желания, о существовании которых она и не подозревала. Когда учитель неожиданно исчезает, она отправляется на его поиски, что, в конечном итоге, приводит к ее к окраинам Южной Калифорнии.

Josh Hartnett, Shinobu Terajima to Star in U.S.-Japan Drama-Comedy ‘Oh Lucy!’

Josh Hartnett and Shinobu Terajima are starring in the U.S.-Japan drama-comedy “Oh Lucy!,” which concluded shooting this week.

Kaho Minami (“Kabukicho Love Hotel”) and Koji Yakusho (“Shall We Dance”) also starred in the production, which filmed in Tokyo and Los Angeles. Matchgirl Pictures, Will Ferrell-Adam McKay’s Gloria Sanchez Productions and Meridian Content are the production companies.

The film is produced by Han West, Yukie Kito, Jessica Elbaum  and Hirayangi. Executive producers are McKay, Will Ferrell, Meileen Choo, and Razmig Hovaghimian. UTA is representing North American rights and Phantom Film is distributing in Japan with NHK covering television rights for Japan.

The feature length film is based on the short film of the same name, directed by Japanese director Atsuko Hirayanagi from her own script. The short won the Jury Prize for International Fiction at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Terajima plays a lonely, chain-smoking office lady in Tokyo who is past her prime. After deciding to take an English class, she discovers a new identity in her American alter ego “Lucy” and falls for her instructor, played by Hartnett. When he suddenly disappears, she earnestly sets out on a quest to find him, eventually leading her to the outskirts of Southern California.

“We fell in love with the short Oh Lucy! and were thrilled that it made the jump to being a feature so effortlessly,” McKay said.”Atsuko is such a unique talent and Shinobu, Kaho, and Josh are hilarious and heartbreaking together.”

Terajima won a Berlin Silver Bear for Best Actress for “Caterpillar.” Hartnett starred in “Black Hawk Down” and “Penny Dreadful.”

The feature length script is also the recipient of the Sundance Institute/NHK Award, with NHK providing both financing and co-production support for the film.

Hirayanagi and Hartnett are both represented by UTA. The news was first reported by Screen.

EXCLUSIVE: Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are executive producing the feature adaptation of Atsuko Hirayanagi’s short film, which stars Shinobu Terajima and Josh Hartnett.

Shinobu Terajima and Josh Hartnett are heading the cast of US-Japan co-production Oh Lucy!, which marks the feature debut of Japanese director Atsuko Hirayanagi.

A feature-length version of Hirayanagi’s short film, also titled Oh Lucy!, the film is produced by the US’ Matchgirl Pictures, Gloria Sanchez Productions and Meridian Content with Japanese broadcaster NHK.

The comedy drama tells the story of a lonely, chain-smoking office lady in Tokyo (Terajima) who falls for her teacher (Hartnett) when she decides to take English lessons. When her teacher disappears, she sets out on a journey to find him that takes her to Southern California.

Producers on the film include Yukie Kito (Tokyo Sonata), Jessica Elbaum (Welcome To Me), Hirayangi and Han West (Lemon), while Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Meileen Choo and Razmig Hovaghimian are on board as executive producers.

The film, which wrapped this week following a shoot in LA and Tokyo, also stars Kaho Minami (Kabukicho Love Hotel) and Koji Yakusho (Babel). Terijima won best actress at Berlin film festival in 2010 for her role in Kôji Wakamatsu’s Caterpillar.

Hirayanagi and Hartnett are both represented by UTA. UTA is representing North American rights while Phantom Film will handle Japanese distribution and NHK has Japanese TV rights.

Hirayanagi’s short film Oh Lucy! won the Jury Prize for International Fiction at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Second Place at 2014 Cannes Cinefondation and over 35 other awards worldwide. Her feature-length version of the film received the Sundance Institute/NHK Award while at script stage, after which NHK boarded the project as co-producer and co-financier.
